Detox drink – Virechana
According to Ayurveda, the root cause of most diseases is improper digestion. Indigestion is caused by improper eating habits, nature of work, life style changes, lack of exercise etc. This undigested food causes a form of toxin (called also as ‘Aama’ in Ayurveda) in our body. It creates imbalances in our body, mind and soul , hence we are exposed to diseases. The God gifted medical system named ‘AYURVEDA’ eliminates toxins in natural way (Panchakarma) and restores our health.
If you have already consulted your ayurvedic doctor and recommended for Virechana detox program following information would help you to perform it from home. You are required to manage your life for the detoxification process according to the guidelines provided below.
You are required to take the ayurvedic herbs recommended by an ayurvedic doctor prior to any detox program. Once this phase is over and to boost the healing processes, virechana detox is recommended. This preparation helps your body to detach the toxins from their actual sites and widen the channels to the digestive tract.
Easy Detox at home
The detox treatment will need to be preceded by ghee intake for three consecutive days. This helps to prepare your body channels to get soft and easy expulsion of the toxins from body during detox process. No dosha herbs are required to take from fourth day onward.
- Day 1 Medicated Ghee 30ml (morning, on empty stomach)
- Day 2 Medicated Ghee 60ml (morning, on empty stomach)
- Day 3 Medicated Ghee 60ml (morning, on empty stomach)
During these three days eat your breakfast only when you feel very hungry. You can take your second and third meal not according to the usual time but when you are hungry. For all these three days, breakfast should be cooked and a warm soupy meal like porridge and with ginger tea. Sip warm ginger tea throughout these days to keep you hydrated and cleanse. You need to take a hot water shower on the last day of ghee treatment.
- Day 4 Detox herbs (to be taken in the morning, on empty stomach)
Detox drink
Detox decoction is made by mixing Triphala powder (2 teaspoons), Castor Oil (2 tablespoons), and ½ glass of boiling water. You will start using the toilet for detox elimination after 30 minutes to 1 hour. This day you need to stay at home and take a rest as you may get six to eight urges to the toilet. Feeling a little tired after detox is common. You should contact your ayurvedic doctor if you feel overly tired. Again, the breakfast should be a warm soupy meal like porridge with ginger tea. All meals must be warm and light for easy digestion. Limited physical and mental stress and timely sleep are recommended throughout the week. You can start taking the Ayurveda herbs after this detox day but not on the day.
You need to make arrangements for follow-up consultation with your ayurvedic doctor in a week period, but do not hesitate to contact me during any discomfort.
